Rohr names squad for Senegal, B/Faso friendlies, drops Mikel, Ighalo

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has invited team captain Mikel Obi and 22 other players for the two-legged 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier with Cameroon.

The list of players invited by the German gaffer was published on the official website of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Tuesday.

Israel–based Anthony Nwakaeme gets a first call to the national team while German-based Leon Balogun returns, as well as Chelsea’s wing-back Victor Moses, who missed the Afcon qualifier against South Africa in June due to injury.

Nigeria will host the reigning African champions at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Friday, 1st September, before flying to Yaounde for the reverse fixture on Monday, 4th September.

The Super Eagles are top of Group B with six points, after wins over Zambia and Algeria in their first two matches, while the Lions lie second with only two points following 1-1 draws with Algeria and Zambia.
