A fresh crisis is brewing among members of the Nigeria Football Federation following the discovery that new Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will earn $47,000 a month.
Ripples Nigeria can report that apart from NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, and three of his close lieutenants, other members of the board don’t have the details of the new coach’s contract and source of funding, a move which has thrown the board in disarray.
Pinnick has kept the identity of the sponsor for the salaries under wraps even to his fellow executive committee members say its an oil company and that at the appropriate time the company will announce this partnership with the NFF.

“Paying a coach $47,000 a month in this high economy meltdown witnessed in Nigeria is a waste of funds. We owe other coaches and it is very ridiculous even if we are not the one paying. That high amount can be channeled towards youth development,” said a member of the board who pleaded anonymity.
The Franco-German has signed a two-year contract, which is now believed will be bankrolled by an oil company owned by Ifeanyi Ubah.
Officials have already argued that Rohr will be assisted by three others he has handpicked – an adviser, a fitness trainer and a video specialist.
The former Burkina Faso and Niger coach will be the one responsible for these assistants.
Rohr will be in charge of next month’s AFCON 2017 qualifier in Uyo against Tanzania, which will mainly serve as warm-up to Nigeria’s opening 2018 World Cup qualifier in Zambia on October 3.
