Ronaldo, Benzema fire Madrid to victory at Getafe

Real strikers, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema scored their first La Liga goals of the season to help their side grab a 2-1 win at Getafe on Saturday.

The Zinedine Zidane side started the day in fifth position on the log, and opened the scoring just before half-time through Benzema’s goal.

Getafe equalised about 10 minutes into the second half through a Jorge Molina finish, but Ronaldo scored the winner with a fine finish from Isco’s clever chipped pass five minutes to stoppage time.

The victory, which marked Zidane’s 100th match in charge of the Spanish champions, is Real’s fourth successive win in all competitions.

Ronaldo served a five-game suspension in August and September after he was sent off and then pushed a referee in Real’s 3-1 win against Barcelona in the Super Cup on 14 August.

His suspension cost Madrid four points and the Portuguese is just ending the goal drought today.

Meanwhile, rivals Barcelona who are top of the table will play at Atletico Madrid later on Saturday.
