Ronaldo confirms stay at Real Madrid

Reigning FIFA Best player, Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed his stay at Real Madrid next season, saying he targets winning more trophies.

The future of the four-time Ballon d’Or winner had been a subject of speculation since the end of last season, after being accused of evading €14.7 million in tax by Spanish prosecutors.

A newspaper in the home country of the Portuguese star, A Bola, soon reported that the 32-year-old wanted to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer after becoming ‘outraged’ at the tax-evading accusations.

But Ronaldo has finally spoken about his future with the reigning La Liga and UEFA champions, saying he wants to win more trophies with the club.

“Winning major trophies with my club last year was great, just like the individual trophies,” Ronaldo told Marca.

“Doing it again would be fine.

“You have to work hard, year after year, I will continue to do it. Football is my life, it is my passion.”

Ronaldo led Madrid to four trophies last season, including a first La Liga crown since 2012, and has a contract with the club till 2021.
