Portuguese star, Cristiano Ronaldo made his debut for Serie A side Juventus who defeated Chievo 3-2 in a thrilling encounter on Saturday.

The reigning FIFA best player, who left Real Madrid this summer, failed to score a goal in his first competitive game with the Italian giants.

It was Federico Bernardeschi who scored a 93rd-minute winner for Juve, moments after they had a goal ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

The VAR incident had the five-time Ballon d’Or winner involved, as he handled the ball before colliding with Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino in the build-up to Mario Mandzukic’s goal, which was eventually ruled out.

Sami Khedira had put the visitors ahead from close range in the third minute, before Mariusz Stepinski headed in the equaliser for Chievo.

The hosts got into the lead for the first time in the game when Emanuele Giaccherini won and scored a penalty on 56 minutes.

But Juve, who have won the past seven Serie A titles, came from behind to steal the show with a Mattia Bani own goal leveling both sides on 75 minutes before Bernardeschi’s strike late on.

Ronaldo forced several saves from 39-year-old Sorrentino, who left the match on a stretcher after that late collision.
