Real Madrid winger, Cristiano Ronaldo has been crowned winner of the 2017 Ballon d’Or, a title he is taking home for the fifth time in his career.

Ronaldo, 32, helped Real win the Uefa Champions League a second successive time last season, and at the award ceremony held at Paris on Thursday night, he picked up the award to equal Lionel Messi’s tally.

The Portuguese star, who recently won the Best FIFA Men’s Player of the year, beat Barcelona’s Messi and PSG’s Neymar to the title.

Speaking after picking up the record-equalling award, Ronaldo appreciated his Real teammates and everyone else who have contributed to his success.

“Of course I feel happy,” the Portugal captain said.

“This is something I look forward to every year. The trophies won last year helped to win this award.

“Thanks to the Real Madrid team-mates. And I want to thank the rest of the people who helped me reach this level.”

With Messi and Neymar on second and third place, Juventus’ goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon was ranked fourth, followed by Madrid’s Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos in fifth and sixth place respectively.

PSG’s Kylian Mbappe was ranked 7th, Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante on 8th, while Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski and Tottenham’s Harry Kane completed the top ten.
