EKITI ELECTION TRIBUNAL: INEC staff deliberately voided PDP vote –Witness

A heated disagreement between INEC officials and party agents has forced the electoral body to step down results for Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The development was made known by INEC’s collation officer for the presidential election in the state, Aniefiok Essien who said the collation officer for the LGA, Pang Enubari, presented the results which included 72,745 votes for the All Progressives Congress and 7,148 votes for the Peoples Democratic Party.

He however said, agents of political parties led by PDP’s Austin Okpara protested because the Electoral Officer (EO), Kenneth Eta, earlier said no collation took place in the area as they wondered were the results emanated from.

Reports say eyebrows were raised over the sudden disappearance of INEC’s collation officer Enaburi who could not be found between Saturday night and Monday morning.

Enaburi however presented poll results to the collation centre in Port Harcourt- a move which sparked outrage among party agents and also led to protests by some parties who suspect election manipulation.

In a bid to find a way out of the situation by settling the disagreement, Mr Essien asked the officials and agents to harmonise the results and return for their presentation but informed again that the results for the LGA has been stepped down for now.
