Royal row: Canadian claims paternity of Prince William

Published

on

A Canadian French-language journalist, François Bugingo, claims he is the biological father of Prince Williams, son of late Princess Diana, and has filed a paternity lawsuit, in Montreal, Canada asking the court to order a DNA test to prove his claims.

According to Bugingo, he was involved in a romantic relationship with Lady Diana Spencer for more than three years, between 1979 and 1982, claiming that he was Princess Diana’s personal driver and bodyguard before and after the birth of Prince William.

According to him, he was in charge of  the security of the princess on behalf of the MI5.

Bugingo, who was born in Congo, has covered conflicts around the world for TV, radio and print publications.

He alleges that he had an affair with the princess between July 1979 and March 1982, and he is convinced that he is the biological father of Prince William.

“When Diana got pregnant, she told me that I was the father” says Mr. Bugingo. “We were deeply in love, but her family had pushed her into a marriage with Prince Charles. She was very unhappy with him, and she wasn’t even sleeping with him at the time. I am absolutely confident that a DNA test would prove my claim.”

The man, who has since become a Canadian citizen and a well-respected journalist, claims he had to leave the United Kingdom because he was being harassed by agents of the Royal family.

Bugingo says he received multiple death threats and was physically assaulted three times by people who wanted to keep him away from Lady Diana.

There has been no reaction yet, from the Royal family, but the MI5 did confirm that Mr. Bugingo had indeed “collaborated with the British security intelligence agency in the past,” without giving any specific details.
