The die is cast and it seems all set for a showdown after former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially accepted the challenge of five-time boxing heavyweight champion Evander ‘‘the real deal’’ Holyfield to square-up with him in the boxing ring.

Tinubu, the “Lion of Bourdillon”, has indicated his readiness to go toe-to-toe with Holyfield when he said in a statement that he has accepted the challenge and is waiting, “almost impatiently for him”.

The match-up tagged “Rumble in Lagos’’ which will feature as an exhibition boxing match according to Foluke Michael, the Project Manager of the fight, is scheduled to hold on May 25 at the Eko Atlantic City and listed as the referee of the contest is no other than Professor Wole Soyinka

“Significantly, it is aimed at bringing world attention to some health-related issues in Africa, and will focus on cases such as autism in children, breast cancer, mental Illness and HIV/AIDS and river blindness,” Michael added.

According to Michael, five 40ft containers of medical and relief materials worth over $2m will be contributed to the Lagos State Government and neighbouring states during the event.

Reports say the charity fight promoted by ACI Entertainment and Bishop Entertainment Consult based in Atlanta, Georgia is part of activities to mark the 50th anniversary celebration of the creation of Lagos State.
