Russia says it is not responsible for diplomatic spat with the West

Russia says it is not responsible for the ongoing diplomatic spat with the West over the poisoning of former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia on British soil.

That much information was revealed by Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov while speaking during a meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart Abul Hassan Mahmud Ali in Moscow.

During the meeting Lavrov also said how far the row escalates between Moscow and the West over the spy poisoning in Britain does not depend on Russia.

“In times of cold war there were some rules, but now Britain and the United States had dropped all propriety and were playing children’s games,” he said.

The row has seen Russia retaliate the expulsion of its diplomats by the West led by Britain and the US by expelling no less than 23 countries around the world.

Vladimir Putin’s men also asked Britain to reduce its diplomatic staff in Russia by more than 50 people after it initially expelled 60 UK diplomats.

That order was conveyed by the Russian foreign ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova who told the media that Britain would have to cut “a little over 50” of its diplomats in Russia.

Moscow has continually denied responsibility for the March 4 attack on Skripal and his daughter Yulia in the English city of Salisbury.
