Top scorer Oshoala crowned best striker in Chinese women’s league

Super Falcons star, Asisat Oshoala is sad that she will miss the team’s international friendly against France, but promises to give full support to the team from her base in China.

Oshoala was left out of the 18-lady squad invited by coach Thomas Dennerby who recently took over the team and led them to the just-concluded WAFU Cup in Ivory Coast.

It has been reported in some quarters that the Dalian Quanjian star was not released by her club for the friendly due to some issues between both parties.

“I totally understand and appreciate the concern of our dear supporters,” the reigning African Player of the Year tweeted on Thursday.

“Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control, I won’t be part of the team to participate in the friendly against France. Sad and pained but would be giving my full support to the team. #SuperFalcons,” she added.

Meanwhile, the France game will be Super Falcons’ first match in over 15 months– since December 2016 when they won the African Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Nigerian ladies will be up against France on Friday in Le Mans.
