Salah, Mane score in 7-goal thriller as Liverpool end Man City's unbeaten run

Reigning African Best Player and Egypt’s forward, Mohamed Salah, alongside Senegal’s Sadio Mane, was on target as Liverpool ended Manchester City’s unbeaten run at Anfield on Sunday.

After a 1-1 first half scoreline, the Reds scored three times in a rousing eight-minute spell in the second half, then clung on after City scored twice in the last six minutes.

Former Arsenal forward Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain opened the scoring nine minutes after the kickoff before Leroy Sane levelled for City after about 30 minutes.

About 15 minutes after the restart, Roberto Firmino reclaimed the lead for Liverpool Mane and Salah extended the lead in the 61st and 68th minute respectively.

Substitute Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan scored late goals for City, but could not prevent Pep Guardiola’s side from falling to their first league defeat since April.

City remain 15 points clear at the top, though second-placed Manchester United have a game in hand– against Stoke on Monday. Liverpool are third– level on points with both United and fourth-placed Chelsea.
