Liverpool are top of the English Premier League table after a goal by Mohamed Salah secured the Reds a win over Brighton at Anfield on Saturday.

Nigeria’s Leon Balogun, who joined the Seagulls this season, made his first start for Brighton in the defeat.

Salah’s 23rd-minute goal ensured that Liverpool become the only side so far to have taken maximum points from their three league games.

The Egyptian and reigning African footballer of the year, who scored a record 38 goals in the Premier League last season, has scored twice so far this season.

The Jurgen Klopp side are with 9 points ahead of manchester City, who drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier on Saturday, on 7 points.

Brighton claimed a stunning 3-2 win against Manchester United in their previous game but with the defeat at Anfield, they stand 12th on the table, having lost their opener at Watford.

They welcome Fulham in their next league game, while Liverpool travel to Leicester City next weekend.
