Sanchez wins October PFA Fans’ player award

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has been named the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for October in the Premier League.
Sheffield Wednesday’s Fernando Forestieri takes the Sky Bet Championship award, on-loan Shrewsbury midfielder Sullay Kaikai is the Sky Bet League One winner and Plymouth’s Reuben Reid is Fans’ Player of the Month for Sky Bet League Two.
Sanchez scored three goals in four Premier League games during October, as well as putting in a man-of-the-match performance in Arsenal’s impressive 3-0 demolition of Manchester United.
Leicester’s Jamie Vardy and West Ham’s Dimitri Payet were alongside Sanchez on the final three-player shortlist for the top division but it was the Chile international’s performances as Arsenal moved level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table which swung the vote.
Several fine performances from Wednesday forward Forestieri, who joined the club from Watford last summer, helped the club remain unbeaten during October. Wednesday have moved up to eighth in the Championship and the 25-year-old’s three goals have played a key part, earning him the gong for the second tier.
Kaikai, who is on loan from Premier League side Crystal Palace, has scored four goals in five games from midfield for Shrewsbury on his way to the League One award.
The 20-year-old is joined by Plymouth striker Reid, who has also hit four goals in three matches as the Devon side moved five points clear at the top of Sky Bet League Two.

Every month, throughout the English football season, fans will have the opportunity to vote on skysports.com for who they think has been the best player in the Barclays Premier League, Sky Bet Championship, Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two, after Sky Sports teamed up with the PFA to be the digital platform for the Awards.
Before the vote opens each month, an expert panel produces a shortlist of contenders. Fans are then able to vote for the player they think deserves the award.
The panel includes Sky Sports football pundits Paul Merson, Ian Holloway and Peter Beagrie.
That trio are then joined by Mike Riley, general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials, and Malcolm Clarke, chairman of the Football Supporters Federation, as well as the winning fan from each month.
The winning fans who will take their places on next month’s shortlisting panel and make the awards to players will be announced in due course.
PFA Fans’ Player of the Month awards for October
Premier League: Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)
Championship: Fernando Forestieri (Sheffield Wednesday)
