The Lagos State government has floated a N2 billion relief fund to assist victims of the gas explosion that claimed many lives and property at Abule Ado, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, of the state.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who made this known when he paid a visit to the scene of the blast on Monday morning, also said the state was working with NEMA, NNPC and other agencies to make life easier for everyone affected in the tragic incident

The explosion, which occurred in Abule Ado, Amuwo Odofi area of the state, left no less than 16 persons dead and over 50 houses destroyed.

Sanwo-Olu while announcing the relief fund for the victims, added, that a fact-finding committee had also been set up to investigate the incident.

Earlier before Sanwo-Olu’s arrival at the scene, his deputy led other members of the state executive to have an on-the-spot assessment of affected area.

The governor commiserated with the victims of the explosion and the families of those that lost their lives.

He called on Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) to make available safety materials to the residents of the area.

On the committee set up to probe the incident, the governor said it was expected to submit its report in two weeks.
