SARAKI: Osun re-run was a mere charade, 2019 poll endangered

A group, Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has accused the Senate President Bukola Saraki of holding the nation to ransom by not reconvening the Senate to deliberate on urgent national issues.

The group therefore called on Nigerians to prevail on Saraki, and leadership of the Senate to urgently reconvene the federal legislature.

Making the call in a statement in Abuja In Friday, the BMO said it is worrisome that the Senate President has continued to postpone the resumption of the Senate despite several calls by Nigerians for the Senate to reconvene and deliberate on some critical matters such as the INEC budget and approval for foreign loans tied to several critical infrastructure.

The statement signed by the Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke the group said, “going by the intransigence of the Senate President to reconvene the Senate, we are left with no other conclusion than to say that in reality Senator Saraki is the one laying siege on the whole country by using his position to undermine the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We are also constrained to recall that the back-door emergence of Saraki as Senate President has continued to follow his every step, as, rather than working in the interest of the country, he has engaged more in parochialism, pettiness, and politics of bitterness and sabotage of national interests.

“The refusal of his leadership to timeously consider serious matters of national importance sent by the President has contributed to the delay in the completion of some strategic national projects, and this is hurting Nigerians.”

The group therefore called on the Senate President “to resign without further delay as his continued stay as Senate President is doing more harm than good to the progress and development of the country.

“We also implore him to save Nigeria from further embarrassment, and desist from actions that are likely to plunge the country into avoidable crisis.

“We also use this medium to debunk the allegation by the former governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido, that there is corruption in Aso Rock. This allegation is not only spurious but false and calculated to dent the good image of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. We consider the latest accusation as the figment of his imagination as such is impossible under President Buhari.

“Even the claim by the Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal that the president is not healthy and a cabal is running the affairs of government, we also see it as an emerging trend by the Peoples Democratic Party to embark on a campaign of calumny against the Buhari administration and we call on Nigerians to take the accusations with a pinch of salt and demand that the PDP account for their sixteen years of maladministration.”
