President Muhammadu Buhari is meeting with senators of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The meeting is holding inside the conference room in the office of the wife of the president at the State House, Abuja.

The meeting is coming a day after 15 senators and 32 House of Representatives members dumped the party. It is also happening on a day that Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, left the party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

About 42 Senators are said to be attending the meeting with Buhari, which expectedly should focus on the defections.

Senate President Bukola Saraki, who has been at the centre of much of the drama surrounding the Senate defections, is however not attending the meeting. Information is not yet available as to whether he provided any reason for his absence.
