#SaveMayowa campaign not a fraud –Police declares

A few days after Mayowa Ahmed’s brother took to his Twitter account to inform that his ailing sister is set to fly to the U.A.E for medical treatment, while also informing that his family is still trying to convince doubting Thomas’s that the fundraiser was not a scam, the Lagos State Police Command, through the State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, has declared that the fundraising is not a scam.

Following the declaration, the police have thus unfrozen the account where the sum of N81million and another 100,000 dollars, were raised by well-meaning Nigerian both home and abroad for Mayowa to be flown abroad for treatment.

The Commissioner of Police noted that the storm raised over the #SaveMayowa campaign arose as a result of a misapprehension among the Ahmed family, Life Stake Foundation and actress, Toyin Aimakhu over how the funds raised would be dispensed after embarking on the campaign with honest intentions.

Reports say Mayowa’s family has secured a three-month visa and an emergency doctor to accompany her on the trip as requested by the airline booked to fly her to the U.A.E.

Further reports revealed that a doctor in a U.A.E hospital has accepted to treat her for her ailment and has also advised on a new date for Mayowa to arrive their facility which the family has made all necessary arrangements to meet up with.
