The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has resumed office just 24 hours after his reinstatement by the Kebbi State High Court.

Justice Nusirat Umar had on Thursday reinstated Secondus as the PDP helmsman.

Umar, who is a vacation judge, gave the order just four days after the Rivers State High Court issued an interim injunction restraining Secondus from parading himself as the PDP national chairman.

In obedience to the court’s order, he handed over to the PDP Deputy National Chairman, South, Yemi Akinwonmi, to lead the party in an acting capacity.

But on Thursday, the judge granted Secondus the leave to continue exercising all the constitutional powers of the office of PDP Chairman as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria and the party’s constitution.

At a brief handover at the party national secretariat in Abuja, the chairman said he would continue to provide astute leadership for the party.

He said: “We obeyed the court order from Port Harcourt. We also obey the one of yesterday (Thursday).

“This is a party that follows the rule of law, that obeys court orders.”
