Sen Sani suggests El-Rufai is part of root cause of killings by Fulani herdsmen

Outspoken All Progressives Congress (APC) senator from Kaduna State, Shehu Sani, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for finally choosing to visit states affected in recent times by herdsmen killings, Boko Haram attacks and activities of other criminal elements.

He however called on the president to try next time not to wait for pressure to be mounted on him before performing his leadership responsibility.

Buhari had after much criticism of inhuman feeling over failure to visit states as Benue and Taraba, where herdsmen have killed hundreds of Nigerians, and Rivers and Zamfara that have recorded several deaths due to criminal activities, as well as Yobe, where 110 schoolgirls were abducted by Boko Haram, announced on Monday plans to visit all of those states.

He also started the visit on Monday with Taraba State, where he claimed that he was aware that more people have been killed in the state than in Benue, where 73 where killed in the attack of January 1, and 2.

But reacting on his Facebook page, Sani who represents Kaduna Central at the Senate said, “President Buhari has finally heeded to our call for him to visit states affected by violence. I commend the President for bowing to the will of the people. In this respect, he demonstrated he is a democrat, submissive to popular appeal.

“But next time, he must not wait for pressure before acting in matters of compassion and leadership responsibility. As for those who earlier opposed his visit to the victims of violence and career sycophants who see the President as always right, we pray for you.”

The senator also reacted to the visit of Liberian President George Weah to Buhari on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Weah had said he visited to seek Nigeria’s assistance and to commend the country for its leadership role in West Africa and Africa as a whole.

But responding on his twitter handle, Sani said, “Dear Weah, don’t ask us for miracles and don’t expect miracles from our temple; consult thy home temple and thy home oracles for miracles. We don’t have excess miracles for exports”.
