Senate probe panels ignore Saraki’s ultimatum, fail to present reports

Published

Several ad hoc committees of the Senate with mandates to carry out investigations have failed to present reports of their probes despite the fact that their ultimatums expired in January.

Some of the panels had been assigned to conduct probes into issues bordering on corruption and misconduct involving Federal Government ministries, departments and agencies, as well as public officials.

PUNCH gathered that some of the panels had been on the assignments for between three and nine months.

While a few had presented interim reports asking for more time to present their final reports, some called for expansion of the scope of their investigations.
