The Senate went on recess after naming its principal officers, which was considered as a coup by many as the list did not align with the list sent in by the APC, the party with the majority in the Chamber.

It will reconvene when President Muhammadu Buhari sends in his ministerial list.

This much was made known by Senate President Bukola Saraki in a tweet he sent out noting also that two committees had been set up by the Senate.

According to him, “Committee on Finance 2 reduce our salary & that of Legislative agenda will continue to meet. 1ce we get ministerial list, we will reconvene”.

Bukola Saraki on Thursday named Senator Ali Ndume as the choice of the North-East Senate caucus for position of Majority Leader, as against the wish of the party that wanted to position to go to Sen. Ahmed Lawan.

He also said the North-West caucus adopted Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah as the Deputy Majority Leader.
