Senate to screen CJN Tanko on Wednesday

The senate President, Dr Ahmed Lawan on Tuesday confirmed that the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Tanko Muhammad, will on Wednesday appear before the Senate for screening over his appointment.

Lawan who disclosed the development during plenary on Tuesday, added that Tanko’s appearance will be before the   Committee of the Whole Senate for commencement of his screening exercise.

According to him, copies of the nominee’s Curriculum Vitae had been distributed to the lawmakers to enable them peruse the background information about him and his career.

He also implored his colleagues to take time to go through the copies before Wednesday so as to direct relevant questions to him.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari recently transmitted Tanko’s name to the Senate for urgent confirmation.
