Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, the Chairman Senate Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa, has condemned the brutal killings of innocent people in Igbo land by a group suspected to be herdsmen.

The former governor of Enugu State who was reacting to the spate of killings in his constituency noted, with concern, the recent murder of Rev. Fr. Paul Offu and a pregnant woman, Regina Mba, by the suspected herdsmen, describing the action as barbaric.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, Senator Nnamani, however, commended Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for equipping neighbourhood watch groups, and the recruitment of 1,700 forest guards to shore up security in the state.

He said, “I condemn in totality the odious and dastardly acts and extend my heartfelt commiseration to the families of the victims.
