American Tennis superstar, Serena Williams, has given birth to her first child with fiancé Alexis Ohanian.

Williams, who was officially in labor on Thursday night, was induced at a hospital in West Palm Beach, and has reportedly been delivered of her baby on Friday.

“Tennis star Serena Williams gives birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Mom and baby doing well,” WPBF-25 news producer Chris Shepherd announced on Twitter, citing a source at the hospital.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion had said she would wait until delivery to find out the gender of her baby.

Williams announced her engagement to Reddit co-founder, Ohanian, last December via a poem she wrote on her official Reddit page.

The 35-year old, who was already almost two months pregnant when she became the most decorated tennis player of the Open Era at this year’s Australian Open, announced her pregnancy after the victory.

She posted a snap on Snapchat in April – a photograph of her and her baby bump in a yellow swimsuit – with the caption “20 weeks” before removing it.

Fans will be expecting Williams back to the games as soon as possible as she has also already hinted at a comeback to the tour in next year’s Australian Open, which leaves her with three months of preparation.
