Court orders arrest of police witness in Seun Egbegbe's fraud case

Serial fraudster Olajide Oluwaseun Kazeem, better known as Seun Egbegbe is lamenting his fate in prison especially with the hefty conditions of bail that is required for him to regain freedom.

The Ebony Films Productions boss who was granted bail about a month ago alongside his accomplice Oyekan Ayomide is worried that the N5million bail which he was granted since February 24, 2017 is too high to meet.

According to a close associate of Egbegbe, the bail conditions set aside for his release is too high and Egbegbe may find it hard to meet it.

“Where do they expect him to get the sureties who would leave their passport and certificate of occupancy with the court until the case which may last four years ends?”

“Who will risk losing N2.5 million as surety for a case that has not even really started?” Egbegbe’s associate asked.

In his pronouncement while ruling on Egbegbe’s bail application in February, Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo said the suspect and his accomplice, who were arrested for defrauding some Bureau De Change operatives at Gbagada in Lagos, should remain in police custody until their bail conditions are perfected.

“Both accused should be granted bail of N5million with two sureties each in a sum of N2.5million. That is four sureties altogether. One of the sureties must be a civil servant who has attained level 16 while the other surety must be a land owner in any part of Lagos metropolis.

“The landowner must submit Certificate of Ownership of the landed property and while the civil servant must submit his international passport to the court. The four sureties must swear to an affidavit while the house and office addresses and telephone number will be verified by the court”, Justice Oguntoyinbo said.

Egbegbe and his accomplice Ayomide who were both arrested for defrauding some Bureau De Change operatives at Gbagada in Lagos, have now spent two months at the Ikoyi prisons for theft.
