Tragic auto crash claims 9 lives, 1injures

Seven people have been confirmed dead in an auto crash that occurred on Saturday around Ehor village along the Benin-Ekpoma highway, Edo State.

The victims include five adults and two children driving in Audi 80 car.

The car had a head-on- collision with a Toyota Hilux car occupied by protocol officers of the Edo State Government House.

The victims were said to be heading towards Ekpoma, headquarters of Esan West local government area of the state as the advance party for Governor Godwin Obaseki, who was to attend the convocation ceremony of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

The Edo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Mr. Anthony Oko, confirmed the accident to journalists.

He said the two children died on their way to the hospital.

The FRSC official added that all occupants of the Audi car died while the driver of the Hilux van was seriously wounded in the accident.
