107 dead in Indonesia’s flash floods, 93 still missing

Tragedy struck in the north-eastern town of Korogwe, Tanzania when heavy rains swept through the area and killed at least seven people.

More than 100 people were also displaced by a rainstorm.

Mwananchi newspaper (Swahili) quoted local official Kissa Gwakisa as saying that villages in Korogwe constituency had been worst hit by the devastating floods caused by heavy rains.

The newspaper added that a teachers’ college and a market had been damaged even as authorities have managed to evacuate those affected to safe areas.

Drivers have also been warned not to use affected roads because the bridges and the road surfaces may be precarious.
