Shan George vows to expose artistes who engage in intellectual property theft

Nollywood actress Shan George has threatened to expose her colleagues who engage in intellectual property theft by cloning the works of others and claiming credit for what is not originally their creation.

The veteran thespian claims that she is not happy with the way some of her colleagues recycle stories just to make money and take undue credit revealing that some of her fellow actors steal other people’s stories by copying storylines from Telemundo.

“When some people (dumb heads) copy and steal other peoples quotes, Telemundo or song lyrics (intellectual property) and pose as if it’s originally theirs, my question is……. do you really think many people didn’t read, watch or hear the originals? I’ll soon start calling names, with clear evidence,” she said during an interview.

Recall that in October last year, a Canada based writer who goes by the name Jude Idada accused actress Omoni Oboli of intellectual theft.

Jude accused Omoni of lifting his script which he said she adapted for her yet-to-be-released movie titled “Okafor’s Law” which got a nod at the Toronto International Film Festival TIFF last year.

In the month of June, this year, another Nollywood actress, Stephanie Linus-Okereke was also accused of copyright theft by lawyer and scriptwriter, Daniella Madudu.

The lawyer claimed that the movie entitled “DRY” which was released some time ago by the thespian has “substantial similarity” and semblance to an original work, that she (Madudu) wrote in 2011 titled ‘Behind Her Veil’.
