Shehu Sani says Buhari’s govt is deceitful about restructuring

Embattled Senator Shehu Sani is blowing hot again, this time, the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) candidate who lost out in the race to retain his Kaduna Central Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly, described the presidential and National Assembly polls held in the state as “a charade and a fraud.”

In a statement issued by Sani in Kaduna, the Senator said the polls were “characterised by ballot stuffing, thumb-printing, over-voting, outright falsification of result and vote allocation.”

Sani said, “In over 85 per cent of the polling units, the card readers failed and there was no due process in the use of the permanent voter cards. Bandits also ravaged Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Igabi and other rural locations. Figures were simply added to result sheets.

“Public resources were also used to massively buy votes. In fact, the National Assembly elections in Kaduna State were an industrial scale fraud. It was not a triumph of people’s will but a triumph of ‘scampish’ vote buying and manipulation.”

He also called for an outright cancellation of the election results, “When an election is free, fair and credible, it’s morally right for those who lost to humbly congratulate those who won but when an election is rigged, those who won should only expect calls from the Courts and not from the candidate.”

Sani further added that, “As for now, No phone call and no congratulations to the fraudulent polls in Kaduna Central. Those who dope don’t deserve sportsmanship. The spirit of sportsmanship cannot be exhibited in an arena built with bricks of fraud.

“The Presidential election in Kaduna State was free, fair and credible but the National Assembly elections were deliberately manipulated to favour unpopular candidates of the ruling party.

“There was prompt and adequate supply of voting materials for the presidential election but that of the National Assembly was systematically undermined to achieve a predetermined result.”

This is the second time in as many days that Senator Sani would be criticising the outcome the polls staged last Saturday which he rejected after it became clear that he lost in the elections.

Speaking to newsmen at his residence in Kaduna after results were announced, Sani alleged that the elections was full of irregularities and massive rigging.

The result presented by the Returning Officers Messrs Bashir Abubakar, Lawal Ahmad, and Abdulfatai Imrana revealed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Uba Sani, defeated Sani to emerge victorious at the polls.
