Shehu Sani remains suspended, Kaduna APC asserts

The 11 months suspension handed Senator Shehu Sani by the Tundun Wada ward, Kaduna State of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been upheld by the state leadership of the party.

The decision to uphold the suspension of the Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District of the state from the party was announced on Tuesday by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Salisu Tanko-Wusono in Kaduna.

It will be recalled that the ward executives, in a letter signed by the vice chairman, secretary and publicity secretary, had announced the suspension of Sani from the party for 11 months, accusing him of opposing the policies and administration of Governor Nasir El Rufai.

A twist was however added to the suspension saga when those purported to have signed the suspension order denied doing so, claiming their signatures were forged.

While affirming the suspension on Sani, Tanko-Wusono noted that having exhausted all avenues available to caution the senator, the party had no option but to uphold his suspension at the ward level.

He added: “We hereby uphold the suspension of Comrade (Senator) Shehu Sani as a member of the party for the period of 11 months.

“By this suspension, he is to desist from all party activities until when the suspension is lifted.

“The party calls on all its members to be law abiding as we move forward to fulfil our campaign promises.”

According to him, other offences the senator committed against the party, range from reckless statement blaming the Nigerian Army over the clash with members of the Shi’ite sect, aimed at inciting the public, to various attempts to factionalise the party in the state among several others.

Reacting,

Special Assistant to Sani (APC- Kaduna) on Politics and Ideology, Malam Suleiman Ahmed, said nothing will deter his principal from criticising the “anti-people” policies of the state government.

Ahmed in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna yesterday said that the suspension would only strengthen his principal’s resolve to criticise any policy of the el-Rufai administration that he considered “anti-people”.
