The PDP Must Reform To Provide A Viable Opposition And Democratic Alternative

The Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is set to replicate its Edo experience in Ondo State.

This is as  it has moved its own governorship primary election to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital for security reasons.

It would be recalled that the Ahmed Makarfi led faction of the party, had last Monday, conducted it’s own primaries that produced the immediate past Attorney General of the state, Eyitayo Jegede as candidate.

The Sheriff faction had scheduled to pick its candidate in Akure today for the November 26 governorship election.

However, its Director of Media and Publicity, Yemi Akintomide, said the primaries have been shifted to PDP Southwest zonal secretariat in Ibadan.

The statement by Akintomide said: “We are not aware of any court injunction stopping the primary, as all court pronouncements were in favour of the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP.”

The scheduled primaries has as aspirants, Jimoh Ibrahim, Sola Ebiseni, Bamiduro Dada, Niran Sule-Akinsuyi and the only female, Mrs. Abiye, are contesting.
