The minors who were arraigned on treason charges for participating in the August #EndBadGovernance protest on Tuesday afternoon, met with Vice President Kashim Shetimma at the Presidential Villa in Abuja after they were freed by the Federal High Court.

The underage children were among 76 protesters arraigned in court last Friday for participating in the nationwide protest that lasted from August 1-10, but their presentation at the court coupled with their malnourished state which led to their slumping caused public outrage and forced President Bola Tinubu to order for their immediate release.

The President also ordered the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), to take over the case file from the police and to withdraw the charges against the minors.

On Tuesday morning, the court struck out the suit against persons who allegedly took part in the protest and the minors were released afterwards.

Later in the day, the children were taken to the Villa where they were received by Vice President on behalf of President Tinubu and were handed over to their respective state governors by the VP.

Present at the villa were Governors Uba Sani of Kaduna and his Kano State counterpart, Abba Yusuf, as well as Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal, and Minister of State for Education, Tanko Sununu.
