A gun battle in front of a mosques in the southern French city of Avignon has left eight people wounded according to a police source.
Reports say two of the eight victims wounded were hospitalised after the incident, according to the source, who also said that worshipers leaving the mosque had not been the intended target.
According to a French newspaper citing witnesses, one of two gunmen with their faces covered had fired shots around at 10:30 p.m. as people were coming out of the mosque before the two fled the scene.
French police are not treating the shooting as a terror attack, rather it is being treated as an incident to settle scores following a dispute between youths after conducting thorough investigation into the matter.
