Shun hate message, it’s ungodly, Sanusi tells Muslim clerics

Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has said that Nigeria like never before needs peace at the moment and has called on Muslim clerics in the country to preach messages that will foster healthy relationships between Muslims and Nigerians of other religions.

This was even as he warned Muslim clerics to shun hate messages capable of causing insecurity and disunity in the country under the cover of mosques, describing such ventures as ungodly.

Emir Sanusi stated this during his sermon on Friday after commissioning the ultra-modern mosque of the Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger State.

The mosque inauguration was part of the activities of the university to mark the 26th convocation of its 35th anniversary.

Leading the first prayer during the occasion, Emir Sanusi indulged members of the Islamic faith and their clerics to ensure they stop using the sacredness and protection of the Holy places to set Nigerians of different beliefs against themselves, adding that people who indulge in such acts have not the blessing of Allah and must stop forthwith.

“More than ever before, this is the time we need peace in the country and as such, Muslim clerics and indeed all Muslims should preach peace among the adherents and work to achieve this with members of other religions in the country.”

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, had also just recently called on the Federal Government to arrest Nigerian clerics of any religion preaching hate messages.

Following the incessant attacks by Muslim Fulani herdsmen, who in Southern Kaduna alone reportedly killed over 800 Christians, many Nigerian clerics has been preaching messages of retaliation over such mindless brutality.
