After shutting out CNN, BBC, Trump to boycott correspondents' dinner

US President Donald Trump has delivered another blow to the American media after he said he will not attend a century-old annual correspondents’ dinner, a day after a fierce fight erupted over press access to the White House.

Trump revealed he will not be attending the dinner in a Twitter post when he wrote thus;”I will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner this year. Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!”

However, Reporters’ group covering the White House says April 29 event will go ahead after US president says he will not attend.

Trump’s refusal to attend the dinner is coming a day after White House banned BBC, CNN, the New York Times and others from a press briefing with Press Secretary Sean Spicer.

Those allowed into the room included ABC, Fox News, Breitbart News, Reuters and the Washington Times.

No reason was given for the exclusion of the aforementioned media outlets from attending the informal press briefing as Trump takes his attack on the media to worrying levels.
