Nigeria U-23 coach Samson Siasia has expressed appreciation to Nigerians after his mother was released by her captors on Saturday.

The 72-year old mother, Ogere Siasia, was kidnapped from the family home in Bayelsa State 12 days ago and Siasia, who is in Senegal for the African U-23 African Championship, praised the Nigeria Football Federation, the Nigeria Police Force and all Nigerians for standing by his family since the incident happened.

“We’ve already spoken and she’s happy to be home.

“It’s been a crazy two weeks, but I would like to say thank you to the NFF and everyone involved in the safe return of my mother.

“Now I can completely focus on the business here, doing well at this tournament would be a perfect way to thank Nigerians for their love.”

Although Mrs. Siasia was released early on Saturday. It is however not clear if a ransom was paid as the Police in Bayelsa said the hunt for the kidnappers was still on.
