Singer Simi apologises after receiving hard knocks for wearing a swimsuit to a pool

Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko popularly known in music circles as Simi has taken to social media to apologise to her fans after she received hard knocks for wearing an ‘inappropriate swimsuit to a pool as a married woman.

The mother of one in a post shared on her Instagram account on July 9, 2024, humorously responded to critics while addressing the issue as she apologised for her action.

“I just came here feeling repentant; yesterday I went to the swimming pool and I wore a swimsuit, guys, and I’m just so sorry,” Simi began, acknowledging the backlash. “Honestly, I just wasn’t thinking; I didn’t think.”

Simi, who began her career as a gospel singer and released her first studio album, Ogaju, in 2008, also jokingly remarked that she would attend the next pool party in a kaftan.

“My friend told me, ‘Sims, you can’t wear a swimsuit at the pool; you’re married’. I should have known better; I didn’t know better, and I’m sorry.

”Next time I go to the swimming pool, as a sign of respect to my husband, I will wear a kaftan. I will do better than the best. I don’t want to disappoint you,” she said.
