S’Kaduna will go with Biafra, not North, if Nigeria breaks up – Danfulani

A prominent youth voice and coordinator of the Centrum Initiative for Development and Fundamental Rights Advocacy, John Danfulani, has said that should Nigeria break up, Southern Kaduna will rather go with Biafra than the North.

He stated this in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, when he paid the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, a solidarity visit.

Danfulani expressed dismay over the fate of the minority ethnic group of southern Kaduna who are mostly Christians and regretted that the government of the state has remained “indifferent” to the plight of the people as a result of the sustained “unprovoked attacks by herdsmen.”

“If Nigeria breaks up, we won’t go with the North. Certainly, we will go with Biafra because we share a lot in common. We can form a confederation based on agreement. It is better for us because we are safer in Biafra.

“In the North, they don’t like us because we don’t pray like them. So, it is better we follow those who share the same faith and values with us,” he said.

Meanwhile, the leader of Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF), Yerima Shettima, on Monday alleged that Kanu is being influenced by hard drugs and is now behaving like a madman.

He said, “This man [Kanu] came from nowhere. He is never our class in struggle. I don’t know where he started his struggle, but he came out and within one year and suddenly because unfortunately the government made it easy for him to become popular; otherwise, Kanu is not an issue.”

According to Shettima, the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration made a big mistake to have arrested Kanu.

“The government (is to blame) to an extent, to have even in the first place arrested this man, somebody who is being influenced by drugs. Who is Kanu in the circle of struggles? So to me it is high time when somebody behaves like a madman and you behave like a gentleman you realize that this gentleman is getting out of hand undermining everybody, abusing everybody.

“You cannot… I am proudly a northerner and that’s my identity. I cannot be a leader at my level and allow this man to be talking and abusing the sensibilities of my people and you expect me to fold my hands. As a leader of the youths, it’s impossible.”
