S'Korea thwarts massive cyberattack by North Korea
A malicious hack by North Korea into more than 14,000 computers at large in South Korea affecting big conglomerates and government agencies has been thwarted in Seoul.
Malicious codes aimed at a massive cyberattack were also neutralised with reports saying the hacking originated from an internet address traced to the North Korean capital, Pyongyang.
The cyberattack by North Korea also targeted a software used by about 160 South Korean companies and government agencies but Seoul’s police agency’s cyber investigation unit uncovered the hacking and worked with the companies and agencies affected to neutralise the malicious codes.
South Korea has been on heightened alert against the threat of cyberattacks by North Korea after it conducted several nuclear tests which led to sanctions by the United Nations.
