Skype goes musical

Voice and video call platform Skype is seeking to add more verve to its service by introducing it’s latest set of emoji’s made by legendary Beatles member, Paul McCartney.

The new set of emoji features a set of sound and music clips composed and recorded by McCartney himself.

According to Skype officials, it is hoped that the initial partnership with McCartney will encourage collaboration with more musicians in the future.

Drawn and animated in typical Skype emoji fashion, the new emoji’s are all created under an umbrella theme of ‘love.’
It’s encouraging to see Skype try its own angle at animated expression in a time when messaging platforms are integrating GIFs more heavily than ever before.

Skype says its seen rapid adoption of the feature by users as it is particularly popular in India with Bollywood clips – and is looking to continue adding clips from credited content creators.
