Embattled street hop singer Small Doctor has explained his rough deal with the Nigerian Police over his possession of illegal firearms, noting that it was simply a case of misunderstanding.
In a post on his Instagram page, the singer who was arraigned on Tuesday at the Ebute Metta Magistrate court along with three other members of his entourage said he would he would not get into any form of illegality as many young ones see him as a role model.
“It was a case of misunderstanding and everything is settled. My fans need to know that I will not get involved in any illegality. The younger ones look up to me for hope and I will never let them down,” Small Doctor wrote.
The popular singer also added that he was stunned to read in the media that he was arrested for possession of illegal firearms as he is licensed to carry a gun.
“As I said earlier, I cannot be involved in any illegal activity. There is no way I will hold a firearm without having a licence”.
The singer reportedly fired sporadically after a show at Agege on Tuesday, November 27, in an incident which witnessed the injuring of some people at the event.
According to Edgal Imohimi the Lagos State Police Commissioner, the police is investigating the incident which also witnessed the singer threaten to shoot a traffic police officer, who was on duty in the Oshodi area of Lagos State.
While addressing newsmen, Imohimi said; “It was alleged that four unknown men, in an unregistered green SUV, had brought out a gun and threatened a policeman that if he did not leave the road, they would shoot him.
“Believing that they were armed robbers, I sent out my men and fortunately the men, with the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Shogunle Division, were able to intercept the vehicle and the suspects were arrested and brought down to the headquarters for interrogation.
“It was then discovered that one of them is the same Adekunle Temitope, a.k.a. ‘Small Doctor’. They were arrested in possession of a functional rifle, cartridge and some of their personal belongings.”
The Lagos CP said the singer has a case to answer following the incident which reportedly left four people injured.
