Smugglers attack Customs, kidnap officer

Customs officer, Rasheed Abdulsalam, attached to the Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Lagos, has been kidnapped during a fierce battle with smugglers.

Some of his colleagues also sustained varying degrees of injury in the encounter, which occurred at midnight on Saturday around Gateway Hotel, Ota, Ogun State.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Joseph Attah, confirmed the incident to New Telegraph.

Attah, however, said plans were on to rescue the abducted officer, even as he described Sango Ota axis of Ogun State as a den of smugglers.
