SOKOTO: Stop relocating to Niger Republic, Tambuwal pleads with fleeing residents

Results of 21 out of the 22 Local Government Areas where rerun election held in Sokoto state on Saturday have shown incumbent Governor Aminu Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) maintaining a slim lead.

The Returning Officer in the state, Fatima Mukhtar said Tambuwal was leading the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Aliyu with a margin of 2,057 votes while still awaiting results from Kebbe Local Government Area, which has about 20,000 registered voters.

At the moment, Mr Tambuwal has gained a total of 506,545 votes from both the first ballot and the Saturday’s supplementary elections, while Mr Aliyu has 504,488.
