SOKOTO MASSACRE: ‘Our attackers only came to kill’

Published

on

Various communities in some parts of Sokoto State have been gripped by fear and anxiety as a result of the influx of armed bandits from neighbouring Zamfara State.

This is coming on the heels of the terrible tragedy that occurred on July 9 when dozens of armed bandits attacked and killed scores of people of Tabanni village and other surrounding communities in Gandi District of Rabah Local Government Area in the state.

Sokoto State had enjoyed peace for quite a long time but the bandits have changed that narrative as they have now started attacking communities in the state.

This situation dates back to about two and a half years following the influx of armed bandits from some neighbouring local government areas of Zamfara.

Commenting on the carnage, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said the bandits who came to the villages in large numbers started shooting sporadically, killing people and setting houses ablaze without taking anything away.
