2019: Tambuwal’s name missing as INEC publishes Sokoto gov candidates list

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has denied reports that Aminu Tambuwal, governor of the state, has been granted the party’s governorship ticket.

Tambuwal, who contested but lost the presidential ticket of the PDP, is rumoured to have been handed the governorship ticket via substitution.

But Ibrahim Milgoma, chairman of the PDP in the state, described the reports as untrue.

He said Mannir Dan-iya remains the party’s flagbearer for the 2019 election but added that there was still time to substitute a candidate according to the law.

The chairman said the party would formally announce any change if any arises in the future, noting that substitution had processes which must be complied with based on electoral guidelines.

He said the party members are still united and will continue to support any person that emerged victorious during the concluded primaries, while urging loyalists to work toward ensuring success of all party candidates in the coming elections.
