South Africa border officials on alert to prevent departure of Mugabe’s wife

Border officials in South Africa are reportedly on alert in bid to stop the departure of the first lady of Zimbabwe, Grace Mugabe who has asked for diplomatic immunity after she assaulted a female model in a Johannesburg hotel with an electric cable.

According to South Africa’s police minister Fikile Mbalula, the whereabouts of Grace who is still in the country is unknown as border officials have been asked to be at alert should she try to flee the country.

“We had already put tabs on the borders in relation to her leaving the country,” the minister said.

“So far she has not attempted to flee”, Mbalula added.

Grace was charged to court a day after allegedly attacking a South African model Gabriella Engels, 20, with an extension cord, wounding her forehead and the back of her head for hanging out with her sons in a Johannesburg hotel.

Reports say Grace turned herself in when she went to a police station on Tuesday to report the case.

According to reports, Grace allegedly arrived with bodyguards at the hotel on Sunday and accused Engels of living with her sons, Robert and Chatunga, both in their 20s, who are based in the city.
