SOYINKA TO BUHARI: Stop guarding your health status as Trump does his tax returns

Playwright and Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is hiding his health status like United States of America’s (USA’s) President Donald Trump will guard his tax returns.
He further lamented that such a situation is not what Nigerians expected of him.

He has therefore called on Buhari to address the nation and disclose his health status in order to stop all the speculations arising from his health matters.

He stated this in Lagos on Friday when he spoke to newsmen.

“He’s supposed to understand he’s public property, me I’m still private property, that’s why I’m not in Aso Rock. Once you are in Aso Rock, or you occupy a similar position, you have a responsibility to come out frankly to your citizens.

“Guarding your state of health like Donald Trump is guarding his tax returns is not what we expect from a Nigerian president. Let him address the nation and stop all these speculations which creates unnecessary political manipulations among other things,” Soyinka said.

Controversies over President Muhammadu Buhari’s health status has continued to build up by the day, more especially as he has been unable to attend weekly Federal Executive Council meeting for some time now.

His failure to attend Juma’at prayer at the Presidential Villa, this Friday, has further raised concerns of the true state of health of the President.
