SPAIN: Madrid back to winning ways as Barca thrash Osasuna

After suffering a home defeat against Barcelona last Sunday, La Liga giants Real Madrid bounced back with an emphatic 6-2 victory over Deportivo la Coruna to keep their title challenge on track.

With Cristiano Ronaldo rested and Gareth Bale injured, goals from Alvaro Morata, James Rodriguez (brace), Lucas Vazquez, Isco and Casemiro ensured that Andone and Joselu’s strikes for the home side were purely consolation.

Real are level on points with Barcelona but have a game in hand and will claim the title if they win all their remaining matches.

Meanwhile, Barca had already retained their La Liga lead with a thumping 7-1 win to relegate Osasuna, Lionel Messi scoring twice,

Messi opened the scoring, before Andre Gomes smashed in to double their lead.

Roberto Torres gave the away side hope at the very start of the second half, but further strikes by Gomes and Messi, two from Paco Alcacer and Javier Mascherano’s first Barca goal followed.

While Real will face Valencia in their next league game on Saturday, Barca will play Espanyol later in the day, as the hunt for the la liga title this season continues.
