Speaker Dogara to fight Mayweather June 14

Nigeria’s House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, will on June
14 fight with the undefeated champion and five- division boxing titleholder, Floyd Mayweather Jnr in Abuja.

Mayweather is to arrive Nigeria on June 12, a visit organisers of the event Zzini Media have termed historic.

The bout was made known to the media by Donatus Okonkwo,chairman of Tettrazzini Group of Companies which is the parent company for Zzini Media concept.

He said the bout, which was for charity, is one of the events scheduled for the champion during his tour of Africa.

He said, “Floyd is coming to sub – Saharan Africa for the first time and he is starting in Nigeria.

“He’d arrive on the 12th of June barely eight days from today, he would be around for four days and three nights.”

According to Okonkwo, the boxer, who won 26 of his total 49 undefeated bouts by knockouts, will visit Lagos, Abuja, Akwa Ibom and Anambra during his visit .

“We are happy to tell you that Mayweather will be engaging Dogara in a charity bout to be staged in Abuja” he said, adding that the Speaker has already assured the organisers that he would be present for the bout because it is a charity event.

The bout will hold at the Transcorp Hotel, Abuja.

Former Lagos state governor, Bola Tinubu was also scheduled recently to fight boxing great Evander Holyfield for charity, but Tinubu did not show up for the match.
